Q&A
What is this? Why a newsletter featuring picture books?
Because the miracle of a picture book is forever undervalued.
Because I heard someone say that picture books are the greatest literary form, and once I thought about it I couldn’t disagree.
Because there are countless picture books that deserve their due, yet the popular backlist titles are always the same.
Because the alchemy of spoken word and art is one of life’s greatest pleasures.
Because everyone deserves the magic of the world’s best picture books.
I’m looking for a book about ____________ .
Check out the Browse by Topics page! There, I’ve linked to a number of tags to help you narrow down your search.
You can also use the search icon near the top right of the home page. I list keywords on all the books, so if you search for something like “bedtime rabbits,” you’ll discover what you’re looking for.
Can I send you a title to feature?
If you have an idea for a book, feel free to drop its title in a comment, or message me via Substack, and I’ll happily consider it.
Not that anyone is knocking down my door, but to keep things simple, I don’t post sponsored reviews. I purchase or borrow all books featured on The Page Turn.
What does the paid tier get me?
Honestly? Karma and good will. The Page Turn and its archives are free for everyone!
However…
If you value the book features here, I’d be honored and humbled if you opted into the paid tier to support my work—and the time and love I put into the newsletter.
Subscriptions are priced at $5 per month or $30 per year. (For what it’s worth, I wanted to charge even less than that for the annual subscription, but apparently, $30 is the minimum amount required by Substack.)
Alternatively, if you’d like to say thanks and buy me a coffee, you can send a one-time donation here.
Who are you?
I’m a zealous picture book enthusiast who fell in love with the form in her late 30s—a natural evolution given a career in design and a lifetime of writing stories. Boy, was I happy to discover that picture books offer a perfect mix of the two.
(Slightly) more about me: I’m a writer, graphic designer, mom to a five-year-old, and aspiring picture book author. I live in San Francisco. I also post over here sometimes.
